Artist: NOIDZ
Album: Water World
Year: 2007
“We came from outer space. Now we're on planet Earth.
Studing humans like you... Your behavior. Your beliefs.
Your dreams. Your lifestyle. Your music tastes too...
Now we want to show what we have learnt with you. We
invite you right now. To look to yourself through our
music. You must understand the meaning of life. We are
here to help you... We are here to take you to another
world!” When this is about all the information you can
find on a band, what’s there to expect? Noidz comes from
outer space (or Portugal) and consists of five people.
What else? Ehm… a promo called Water World, with two
tracks.
The first track is the ‘Alienoidz Theme’. A song of
nearly seven minutes, which opens with some gentle
electronic parts, to be followed up by some future pop
elements. A little later, the crazy sampling and the
distorted guitars are added, and the industrial metal is
unleashed. Very powerful stuff, with a great compliment
on the song structure. Although this track is made for
dancing, try to listen to it with headphones on so you
can hear every single hidden detail (pay special
attention for the accoustic guitar intermezzo, and the
45 seconds after). ‘XXM Lightyears’ is the other track.
The opening seconds sound like they were taken away from
some kind of Star Wars episode. What follows is another
surprisingly cool industrialized metal track. Some
elements that are worth mentioning: the surprisingly
fresh guitarwork after two minutes, the cold and
atmospheric keylines all over the song and the wicked
and crazy sampling parts after about 3:40. Again, use
the headphones for some extra detail.
Very impressive musical works indeed, but what about the
vocal works? Well, there aren’t any, which is a pity in
my opinion. Good vocal lines and strong lyrics can get
this band to an even higher level, higher than they
already are. But, lets be fair, this is already quite
impressive to say the least!
