The idea for the band name and concept came about long after we wrote the title song (The Plague of Hamelin). It was written primarily by Murari and it was meant for a band we were a part of at the time called Maelstrom. We shelved it for a while, deciding that it was a tab bit too unconventional in structure. After Maelstrom dissolved, we started working on that song and thought we'd write some more. Murari would come over to my place and generally hang about smoking up, listening to Fantomas, Masada, Scott Walker, discussing David Lynch movies and bitching about the general state of affairs.
