Strange is the way that musical ideas like REPLICA come around, because their begginings are extremely diffuse. In 2003, Rodrigo Ramirez (Skanner) and Mario Chacana were sharing credits as keyboardist and drummer respectivly in the gothic metal band Aseidad just when it was beggining to experimentate with electronic sounds, when both musicians proposed a new composition for the band, which took away the metal roots of the band to centre it in a electronic rock with Depeche Mode`s influences, an evolution that (just like both composers thinked) would bring fresh airs to the band, aproaching them more to what it was a very promising proyect. But the answer from the rest of the band members was absolutly negative and the song was rejected for “not being from the line of their music”. So there was that, from the roots of the rejected song, both Mario Chacana and Skanner started to work in new musical ideas aside, which finally ended with Mario Chacana asumming the vocal performance in the new proyect and Skanner continuing in the keyboards and programming. And so there was that the song rejected from the musicians former band became “Scorpion”, and this new proyect became REPLICA. During 2004 and 2005, the duo worked at compositive level with songs like “Between the Scorn” and “Soulteck”, which would bring three live performances in different stages, where it was proved that REPLICA`s musical ideas had a very good impact in the audience. But just when the duo began to gather force in the local scene, Mario Chacana and Skanner asummed places in the industrial band Vigilante, which would bring an innevitable stand-by in the work of REPLICA. At the beggining of 2006, Mario Chacana left Vigilante and Skanner would do the same at the middle of the same year. Skanner would begin to work with keyboard man Gonzalo Perez and Mario Salgado as guitarrist (who was former Vigilante axeman) in a new proyect called Terminal State, acompannied by Jaime Cabrera in the drums and Andres (Dellirio) in the vocals. But this last one would leave the band at the short time, which brought the idea to recruit Mario Chacana in the vocal performance again. In this way, all the compositions from the past work were re-made, but this time with a different touch, along with the work created for Terminal State, making the big final step that the musicians needed to bring back once again REPLICA, this time formed as a quintet. With the new line up, the banda entered at The Vortex Studios to begin the recording sessions of their debut album “Languages of Decay”, who will be edited by Twilight-Records (Ataraxia, Lamia, The Frozen Autumn). Today, REPLICA is still composing and working in new ideas and horizons to explore lyrically and musically, always trying not to stuck in one idea and style in particular. REPLICA´s music could be called a duality music, for in the compossitions we can find (lyrically and musically speaking) from dark and opressive pasagges of solitude and hate (Between the Scorn), passing the ironic histery of the lack of communication (Liberate the Cancer), to rabid and tension released under violent accords (Soulteck). In both study and live work, the idea of REPLICA is only one...to create a sonic curtain that stays in the ears and minds of the listeners that try to take a step further inside the worlds of REPLICA`s songs, understanding the language that this band try to express...until this day.
