On F**k Em All - Volume six you strike with another new and drum'n'bass influenced industrial metal track. What bands or projects are your main influences these days?
Hey Gerardo - main influences for The Bombs of Enduring Freedom these days are old school extreme metal, modern electronic music and whatever is making headlines (deadlines) in the bullsh*t media ! Oh - and a good dose of dark humour.
Since the "Kalashnikovs And Car Bombs" EP you mostly exchanged your own vocals for vocal samples. Why is that? Where do you find all these diverse samples, knowing the theme of the "Bomb The Bank" EP and the newer songs on MySpace?
Finding obscure interesting vocal samples and re-editing them is something of a speciality when it comes to TBOEF. From a political point of view, I am highlighting the power of editing in the media. It's also artistically more challenging than recording originaly vocals.
The track obviously is referring to the killing of nine people by the Israeli navy when they entered a ship who was providing aid for the Gaza strip. Out of the many news items, why did you decide to make a track about this one?
When it comes to material for TBOEF, I am usually looking for a big story that strikes me due to the way it is edited, distorted and reported through the media ; I then re-distort the reported story to somehow resemble the 'truth' again - to try and make sense of it. Other tracks for the forthcoming EP deal with the BP oil spill, Global Warming hysteria and other bullshit story being foistered upon us through mainstream media. Maybe revisit something from the past too.
Israel and their accomplices were claiming they were just defending their own territory and making sure Hamas wouldn't get any aid, while Palestine and their accomplices (specially Turkey in this case) were talking about an act of terrorism. What are your own views on it?
I thought it was pretty funny seeing these commandos in full combat gear armed with sub-machine guns getting their heads kicked in and then being chucked over the side of the boat. The volunteers on the boat had obviously carefully prepared themselves weeks in advance with broken chair legs and bits of doors - what else would you need to defend yourself in a battle with machine-gun toting maniacs who have been trained to kill you like an animal ?
On the "Kalashnikovs And Car Bombs" EP you released the song "Two State Revolution", which pretty much deals with the same subject as the track for this compilation. What are your views on the Israel-Palestine conflict in general? You still think a 'two state revolution' would be the solution?
It's the same old story for over 50-60 years. I dont really care about going over the historical stuff (i.e ;The Balfour Agreement, the Arab Facade, the USS Liberty, the misappropriation of the terrors of the 2nd world war etc..) - all this stuff is common knowledge - all that is important is to highlight the plight of the poor bastards having to suffer in internment camps to make way for a military government's 'lebensraum'. At the same time, it's sickening that people find it acceptbale to blow themselves up in crowds of innocent people. It's all completely mental - god save us from religion !
Just yesterday we saw the leaders of Israel and Palestine, as well of Egypt and Jordan, arriving at the White House to resume peace talks. What do you expect of it? You think the outcome will be more hopeful this time compared to the peace talks in the past?
No. Unfortunately there will never be any peace there. There hasn't ever been ! look at the Bible, look up the crusades, watch the news - it's a region of eternal conflict. It's just a shame that more civilised parts of the world are dragged into this by religious affiliation and political manipulation.
You have been on many F**k Em All compilations already. What are your views on these compilation series?
I think they're a great way of getting band's material heard by new ears. It's a shame more of the artists featured dont release EPs on Death To Music more often - there is some great stuff on these compilations.
Got any final words?
Have a good time - all the time.
